Counseling Program:
It is observed that, there is a huge need for addressing the teenagers’ problems. The youngsters / teenagers are now a day facing several problems like – lack of concentration, peer pressure, Anxiety- depressions etc. and taking extreme steps like suicide. To address these; the counseling cell/program is launched in Vidya Poshak.
Like Vidya Poshak’s other services this service is also available to the students/youths free of cost. Both Girls and boys can approach to avail this service. They may contact the counselor over the phone or email during office hours, except emergencies. The information shared with the counselor will be strictly kept confidential and privacy will be maintained to the highest standards as per Vidya Poshak policy.
We are happy to have a woman counselor. We encourage Girls to access this service without any hesitations.
Counseling is available on the following aspects our expert counselor/s.
- Academic issues- concentration problem; fear of exam and fear about future.
- Adjustment problems.
- Interpersonal and Relationship difficulties.
- Anxiety- Excessive worry about everyday matters.
- Depression- Sadness
- Addictions- smoking, drinking and tobacco.
- Family and Personal problems.
- Stressful experiences and harassment etc.
Profile of Counselor: Ms. Sachetha G M. has done Masters of Social Work(MSW) specialization in Medical and Psychiatry from SDM college Ujire. Currently she is working as Counselor in Vidya Poshak Dharwad. She has 2 year and 10 months of work experience in APD organization as coordinator and counselor. She also has Research experience on ‘‘A study on Psycho social issues of Nurses”; ”A study on Education and utilization of maternal and child health care services among Tribal women with special reference to BR hills Mysore’’. She has Placement experience in SIMHANS Bangalore, DIMHANS Dharwad, and KS Hegde Hospital Mangalore in medical and Psychiatry unit.
