Vidya Poshak – Program Highlights 2021
1. Nurture Merit
Vidya Poshak since its inception in 2001 has supported over 15000+ students in Karnataka by awarding financial assistance and transforming their lives. 5000+ students have completed their Graduation and brought their families out of poverty forever.
In FY 2021-22, a total amount of INR 142.00 Lakh was disbursed as financial assistance to 1229 students till date.
Vidya Poshak has identified 300+ bright but economically challenged degree students to award financial assistance in the month of Jan/Feb 2022.
2. Personal Counseling Cell
Vidya Poshak volunteers observed the huge need of addressing the teenager’s problem. The youngsters nowadays facing several problems like- lack of concentration, peer pressure, anxiety, depression etc and taking extreme steps like suicide. To address these Vidya Poshak is launched a counseling program in 2021.
Personal Counseling Interventions: From May 2021 to till date 107 counseling interventions done and it is ongoing with follow-up sessions. Mainly we have been addressing the following issues
- Lack of Concentration among students.
- Anxiety
- Social Media Addiction
- Fear of Exam and Future
- Adjustment issues
- Depression
- Personal Problems
Lay Counselors Training: With the collaboration of Prasanna Counseling Center Bangalore conducted Lay Counselors training for 58 members, among these 15+ members, are willing to contribute volunteer service for Counseling Program.
3. eVidyaloka
Students are getting digital school experience of Science, Maths and English subjects through eVidyaloka program. In last year students were learning from home, now as schools are reopened students are coming to school for attending digital classes.
Through this program, 1605 students from 23 schools got benefited in this academic year. 90 volunteer teachers are serving eVidyaloka students through online classes. Students’ regular attendance is 86%.
Apart from online classes students are engaged in extra activities like Social Emotional Learning sessions (SEL), Students reading program, National Students Innovation Challenges (NSIC), Literature curriculum (LC), V-GNYAN competition.
4. Digital School Initiative
Under eVidyaloka digital school program, 33 Digital schools have been operated by Vidya Poshak scholars and benefiting 163 rural government school students studying in 6th Std. to 8th Std in remote rural government schools who never have any opportunity to make use of Digital Education.
5. Payana – The Journey
Payana is a journey of Educational Empowerment of girl students from single women-led families. This is a collaborative program with RAPID organization.
The support is unconditional irrespective of the Merit or the course the students are studying. In 2021 32 new students were identified and provided support along with 34 renewal students.
All these 66 Payana students have been provided orientation and guidance along with their Educational support of INR 7.0 Lakhs Along with scholarships we supported girls with Library books, different pieces of training, financial assistance in covid period, and grocery kits.
6. Vidya Poshak Digital Services
- IBPS Starter course was organized by Experts. More than 150 students have been benefited.
- Organized “Manage Exam stress” & “Career guidance session” for 180 students of Class-12
- In association with EduRapid, we are providing online coaching to prepare for competitive examinations like IBPS, CDS & SSC. 50+ students are taking coaching online regularly
- CA foundation online coaching is conducted by Mr. Satish Microsoft Corporation. 50+ students getting benefits. 8 students who have been taking coaching from last year, wrote CA foundation examination and waiting for their result
- During the year 2021 Short term Mentoring sessions were conducted by volunteers from 8 corporate volunteer groups and 200+ students got benefitted through this program.
- In December our team met all the 1200+ students virtually and discussed about the students’ aspirations and the progress on their studies.
7. Yuva Fellowship – 2021
Our Vision through the fellowship program is to provide Excellent Education to every child in Karnataka.
We aim to provide an opportunity to passionate, committed, and most promising young graduates from local communities to serve as full-time teachers to children from low-income communities in Karnataka’s most under-resourced schools.
The teaching fellow will spend 2years teaching in a rural government school as a full-time teacher teaching Mathematics and Science subjects in school.
In Long term, our alumni will become advocates of Excellent Education & work for Educational Equity.
Four rural government schools are allocated to six Yuva fellows. They started their teaching journey from Aug 1st and reached 478 rural students.
